Two new interactive maps showing where glyphosate is being sprayed to “fight Zika” have been published on Google. The map shows that the cancer-causing agent is being sprayed heavily around parks and communities around the San Francisco Bay area and Portland, Oregon.

The Portland map alone  shows a total of  1,592 locations (at the time of this post) where the dangerous herbicide is being sprayed.

The maps were created by the group, Reverend Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir as a way to show residences of major metropolitans the dire threat caused from Monsanto’s chemical agent. Watchdog group, Ecowatch, released a statement over the matter.

“Monsanto’s Roundup and its key ingredient glyphosate are major weapons in the Portland Parks Department’s arsenal of herbicides,” the release states.

Portland residents have started a petition, which at the time of this post had over 17,000 signers, to force politicians to stop the spraying and protect their residence and children. Per the petition: Glyphosate exposure (the herbicide used in Roundup®) has been linked to liver and kidney dysfunction, greatly increased risk of cancer, shortened lifespan, inflammatory bowel diseases, Crohn’s disease, chronic diarrhea, colitis, digestive issues, obesity, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, Parkinson’s disease, leaky gut syndrome, multiple sclerosis, ADHD, violent impulsive behavior, suicide, infertility, preeclampsia, late-pregnancy spontaneous abortion, multiple myeloma, cardiovascular disease, cachexia, and ALS.

Last February, the same group published similar findings around parks and picnic areas in New York City.

The World Health Organization declared Glyphosate “probably carcinogenic to humans.”

While Zika is taking the blame for birth defects in children in South America, the real cause has been linked to Monsanto by several notable authors and studies. Here is one source.

The direct effect of glyphosate [on the embryos]… opens concerns about the clinical findings from human offspring in populations exposed to GBH [glyphosate-based herbicides] in agricultural fields.”

Cities are spraying this dangerous chemical to “kill the Zika virus carrying mosquitoes.” Which do you fear more, Zika virus or known carcinogenic chemicals being sprayed at your children’s parks and schools? It certainly doesn’t take much common sense to figure that one out.
