Tonight in a NFL game in San Diego, billed as “Military Night”, Colin Kaepernick has vowed to continue to sit as his sign of protest against the oppression of black people. He is expected to be booed loudly.
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.” ~ Colin Kaepernick
The oft-troubled NFL star, who had a run-in with law enforcement in 2014 over rape allegations had seemingly gotten himself back on track. During the off-season Colin Kaepernick converted to Islam and got engaged to Black Lives Matter activist and hip-hop radio personality DJ Nessa Diab.
Now, Marine veteran Johnny (Joey) Jones, who lost both legs defusing bombs in service to his country, took to Twitter to defend his country and his pride in being an American. Offering to stand with enough pride for both of them during the National Anthem.
