Things are getting bad at college campuses across the USA.
Mumps cases have been spiraling out of control with almost no shot at containment. Shockingly, the spread is mostly due to vaccine failure. According to this report in the Wall Street Journal, all of the students at Missouri were vaccinated twice.
University Of Missouri health officials said all 128 of the infected students had received at least two doses of the measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) vaccine by the time they fell ill, as per the school’s immunization requirement.ADVERTISEMENT
2016 has been a very bad year for vaccinations. Outbreaks long blamed on the unvaccinated are now being shown to be cases of vaccine failure. Mumps infection rates are triple what they were in 2015, as vaccination rates are at all time highs.
As of Nov. 26, the latest date available, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had recorded 3,832 provisional mumps cases across 45 states and Washington, D.C. That’s nearly triple the 2015 total of 1,329 and the highest tally since 2006.
