A “washed up whale,” a “sea monster with dreadlocks” and a “beach Christmas tree” are just some of the random guesses being taken regarding an object that recently washed ashore on a New Zealand beach. Melissa Doubleday posted the images on a Facebook group’s page for a local community asking if anyone had any idea what the heck it is. The responses have been all over the place. “I actually thought it was a washed up whale as I approached it, so weird,” Doubleday told stuff.co.nz.
“Alien Pod time capsule?”
Some claimed it was a piece of driftwood covered in gooseneck barnacles. Whatever it is, it is now being termed the ‘Muriwai monster’. And that sort of seems fitting, all things considered.
